Happy Anniversary – at the Gaylord National Resort

This weekend my wonderful husband and I celebrated our 13th wedding anniversary.  We were high school sweethearts so we’ve actually been together as a couple over 19 years.  This year we were extremely grateful to our parents who entertained the kids for the weekend while we escaped to spend some grown-up time at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center at National Harbor.  Yes, we live here in the D.C. Metro area but we rarely get the opportunity to visit the attractions as grown-ups rather than as parents.  So we enjoyed this beautiful resort, visited the National Zoo, wandered through the U.S. Botanic Gardens and made our first visit to the National Museum of the American Indian.

I’m lucky that my husband is 100% supportive of this photography passion of mine… so much so that he helped carry my tripod out to the dock so I could try my hand at some long exposures of this beautifully lit hotel.  Here is one of my favorite shots…  I would definitely stay here again – so beautiful, amazing food, fireworks on Saturdays during the summer, and so much to do!

Catina, this is a beautiful shot!!!!!!! You really did a fantastic job here. Sounds like you had a nice time in DC, good for you! Time away from the kids is hard to come by, but you sure spent it well.
