Udvar-Hazy Center “Ascent”

Here is an image I took last July during a family visit to the Smithsonian Air and Space Udvar-Hazy Center in Dulles, VA.  After our visit we walked back to the car and I snapped away (as my kiddos grumbled because I always take too many pictures and it was HOT out there! Can’t blame them…).  But I was also snapping a few extra pics because it was the first time I had been there when the take-off flight path was directly in line with the sculpture in front of the museum.  The sculpture is called “Ascent” and is by John Safer.  I was thrilled to see it paired with the ascent of the departing aircraft.

It was worth a few extra minutes in the heat I think…
