{"id":5889,"date":"2014-08-27T08:00:14","date_gmt":"2014-08-27T12:00:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/catinaanderson.com\/photography\/?p=5889"},"modified":"2014-08-26T21:30:25","modified_gmt":"2014-08-27T01:30:25","slug":"sunflower-trivets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/catinaanderson.com\/photography\/sunflower-trivets\/","title":{"rendered":"Sunflower Trivets!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Another big shout out to Tamara Kelly over at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mooglyblog.com\" target=\"_blank\">Mooglyblog.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Remember how I said <a href=\"http:\/\/catinaanderson.com\/photography\/i-love-these-trivets\/\" target=\"_blank\">I get a little obsessive with variations on a theme<\/a>? \u00a0Well\u2026 now I&#8217;m working on <a href=\"http:\/\/catinaanderson.com\/photography\/i-love-these-trivets\/\" target=\"_blank\">these trivets<\/a> and my brain just keeps imagining new combinations of colors to try. \u00a0After working through my kitchen colors and some Christmas colors I thought\u2026<\/p>\n<p>hmm&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>why not a sunflower?<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5890\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/catinaanderson.com\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/IMG_8611T.jpg\" width=\"712\" height=\"900\" srcset=\"http:\/\/catinaanderson.com\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/IMG_8611T.jpg 712w, http:\/\/catinaanderson.com\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/IMG_8611T-237x300.jpg 237w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 712px) 100vw, 712px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>So &#8211; still working with what I have in my stash I found a suitable gold, brown and green and started to experiment. \u00a0And I LOVE how it turned out! \u00a0Even better that I&#8217;ve made enough of these that I have the pattern memorized so I can work through a trivet fairly quickly without stopping to review the stitches. \u00a0This is what kept me busy at my daughters&#8217; 2-hour softball practice the other night :). \u00a0Love a hobby you can take with you! \u00a0(And special thanks to the other softball mom who gave me valuable feedback on the design!)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5891\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/catinaanderson.com\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/IMG_8612T.jpg\" width=\"900\" height=\"566\" srcset=\"http:\/\/catinaanderson.com\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/IMG_8612T.jpg 900w, http:\/\/catinaanderson.com\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/IMG_8612T-300x188.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>First, I tried using green for the base mesh. \u00a0The green showed through in the center (which I wanted to be all brown) so I made a new base with brown for the center of the mesh and then changing to green for the rest.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5892\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/catinaanderson.com\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/IMG_8628T.jpg\" width=\"900\" height=\"900\" srcset=\"http:\/\/catinaanderson.com\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/IMG_8628T.jpg 900w, http:\/\/catinaanderson.com\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/IMG_8628T-150x150.jpg 150w, http:\/\/catinaanderson.com\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/IMG_8628T-300x300.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The green still showed through the gold on top so I made a second trivet and this time made the rounds in the base in colors to match what was going to be crocheted on top. \u00a0Here&#8217;s a quick iPhone snap of the completed base for the size I made (eek!!
