{"id":5616,"date":"2014-03-18T11:40:22","date_gmt":"2014-03-18T15:40:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/catinaanderson.com\/photography\/?p=5616"},"modified":"2015-06-10T08:43:07","modified_gmt":"2015-06-10T12:43:07","slug":"ad-astra","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/catinaanderson.com\/photography\/ad-astra\/","title":{"rendered":"Ad Astra"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last year, on Mother&#8217;s Day Weekend, we went to the Race for the Cure and afterward spent the weekend in DC. \u00a0During that trip we went to the Air and Space Museum. \u00a0As we sat on the steps outside finishing some ice cream the kids ran around and around this interesting reflective sculpture.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5619\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/catinaanderson.com\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/IMG_4765T1.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"900\" srcset=\"http:\/\/catinaanderson.com\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/IMG_4765T1.jpg 600w, http:\/\/catinaanderson.com\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/IMG_4765T1-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I looked it up and was led to this <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ad_Astra_(Lippold_sculpture)\" target=\"_blank\">Wikipedia page<\/a>. \u00a0The sculpture is called Ad Astra &#8211; Latin for &#8220;to the stars,&#8221; according to the Wikipedia entry. \u00a0It&#8217;s creator is an artist named <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Richard_Lippold\" target=\"_blank\">Richard Lippold<\/a> who also has sculptures featured at other prominent locations including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC according to his Wikipedia Page. \u00a0 Lippold lived from 1915 to 2002.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last year, on Mother&#8217;s Day Weekend, we went to the Race for the Cure and afterward spent the weekend in DC. \u00a0During that trip we went to the Air and Space Museum. \u00a0As we sat on the steps outside finishing some ice cream the kids ran around and around this interesting reflective sculpture.
