{"id":5064,"date":"2013-06-17T10:33:53","date_gmt":"2013-06-17T14:33:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/catinaanderson.com\/photography\/?p=5064"},"modified":"2020-08-13T19:35:14","modified_gmt":"2020-08-13T23:35:14","slug":"daddy-longlegs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/catinaanderson.com\/photography\/daddy-longlegs\/","title":{"rendered":"Daddy Longlegs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I am in-love with my macro lens.<\/p>\n<p>This is where the biology teacher in me tries to re-emerge. \u00a0There was so much I did not like about teaching biology but there is still that little girl, junior naturalist hidden inside of me that initially led me toward a major in biology that really, really loves being out in nature. \u00a0I love watching animals and their behavior &#8211; just sitting and observing them. \u00a0I love to see them and discover things I didn&#8217;t see before.<\/p>\n<p>This macro lens is enabling me to see things I really can not easily see with my eye and to discover details I never would have otherwise seen.<\/p>\n<p>For instance &#8211; last night I was taking pictures of whatever flowers and insects I could find in my mother-in-law&#8217;s back yard while the kids played in the pool. \u00a0I came across this daddy longlegs and started to snap a few quick pictures.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pp-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" title=\"Daddy_Longlegs_by_Catina_Anderson--2\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/catinaanderson.com\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/Daddy_Longlegs_by_Catina_Anderson-2.jpg\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After looking through the viewfinder I noticed these tiny white appendages. \u00a0After a lifetime of playing with Daddy Longlegs on camping trips as a child I never, ever have noticed these little white pedipalps. \u00a0Suddenly I was fascinated. \u00a0Then I got home and uploaded the photos to the computer and noticed that I could see an eye. \u00a0Amazing. \u00a0Here&#8217;s a close crop so you can take a peek too!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pp-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" title=\"Daddy_Longlegs_by_Catina_Anderson--3\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/catinaanderson.com\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/Daddy_Longlegs_by_Catina_Anderson-3.jpg\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pp-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/catinaanderson.com\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/Daddy_Longlegs_by_Catina_Anderson-.jpg\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You know&#8230; when I started my first Project 365 back in 2009 what initially drew me into photography was noticing the details around me in a way I never had before. \u00a0Over the past few years I felt like that had sort of stalled and I was simply taking portraits or snapshots and not really learning anything new. \u00a0With this new lens I have suddenly encountered a new feeling of discovery. \u00a0I&#8217;m learning something new about photography every time I use it and learning something new about the details of the world around me. \u00a0Totally fun.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I am in-love with my macro lens.
