\u00a0This afternoon the girls and I (along with puppy&#8230; because you know she just might make an appearance in every blog post from now on&#8230; lol \ud83d\ude09 \u00a0) went to see if they had ripened and we picked a good amount. \u00a0Tonight my husband and I went back out and sure enough got at least another 2 cups more! \u00a0Whether I missed them the first time due to the heat and distraction or whether they ripened in the hours between picking we&#8217;re not sure. \u00a0But I would say we got a good 3 cups today with many more set to ripen in the days to come!<\/p>\n<p>There she is&#8230; happy to be out running &#8211; but it was a little bit hot out there so we didn&#8217;t stay out too long!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4061\" title=\"Wineberries_by_Catina_Anderson-3\" src=\"http:\/\/catinaanderson.com\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/Wineberries_by_Catina_Anderson-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"http:\/\/catinaanderson.com\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/Wineberries_by_Catina_Anderson-3.jpg 900w, http:\/\/catinaanderson.com\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/Wineberries_by_Catina_Anderson-3-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Wineberries are often called &#8220;Wild Raspberries.&#8221; \u00a0They are not the easiest fruit to pick because they are VERY prickly&#8230; even more prickles than regular raspberries (OUCH!)&#8230; and they are considered an invasive species. \u00a0But they are an invasive species that I&#8217;m pleased has invaded my yard. \u00a0\ud83d\ude42 \u00a0Oh &#8211; and there are some wild blackberries in there too&#8230; found a few bushes popping up in our vegetable garden that we thought were raspberries so we let them be&#8230; then the fruit turned black. \u00a0They&#8217;re not black raspberries though &#8211; pretty sure we have blackberries on our hands.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4062\" title=\"Wineberries_by_Catina_Anderson-2\" src=\"http:\/\/catinaanderson.com\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/Wineberries_by_Catina_Anderson-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"http:\/\/catinaanderson.com\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/Wineberries_by_Catina_Anderson-2.jpg 900w, http:\/\/catinaanderson.com\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/Wineberries_by_Catina_Anderson-2-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I started a <a href=\"http:\/\/pinterest.com\/cat_a\/wineberries\/\" target=\"_blank\">pinboard of wineberry recipes<\/a> on my pinterest account. \u00a0In the next day or two we&#8217;re going to have to add some yummy wineberry treats to our blueberry treats!<\/p>\n<p>I love summer!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last year we discovered a whole row of wineberries filling the brush line at the back edge of our yard. \u00a0Conveniently, they ripen in the week between my daughter&#8217;s birthday and the fourth of July so I will always remember when to go foraging!
