{"id":3212,"date":"2012-03-26T13:04:57","date_gmt":"2012-03-26T13:04:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/catinaanderson.com\/photography\/?p=3212"},"modified":"2012-03-26T17:05:57","modified_gmt":"2012-03-26T17:05:57","slug":"artsy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/catinaanderson.com\/photography\/artsy\/","title":{"rendered":"Getting a Little &#8220;Artsy&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last month I was asked to do some photos of a flag in-motion for a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.halftimemag.com\" target=\"_blank\">Halftime Magazine<\/a> cover. \u00a0I went in three different directions with the assignment creatively. \u00a0One of the looks I went for was utilizing motion blur against a black background. \u00a0This wasn&#8217;t, ultimately, the look that was chosen. \u00a0But I was tickled with some of the resulting photos because they&#8217;re kinda cool and absolutely different than what I have photographed in the past.<\/p>\n<p>We set up some studio lighting along with an on-camera flash in a dark room against a black curtain. \u00a0 Then we started tossing and shooting. \u00a0Utilizing rear-curtain flash sync we were able to achieve the affects below. \u00a0In post processing I simply had to remove my friend who was tossing the flag for the resulting image. \u00a0I have to say I was surprised by the white streaks created by the pole and that is maybe my favorite feature of this series of images.<\/p>\n<p>It was so much fun to experiment with new techniques and to just play. \u00a0It took quite a bit of research and patience and certainly resulted in some sore muscles for my assistant as I muttered those most-repeated words known by every performer&#8230;
