{"id":428,"date":"2010-10-26T04:08:27","date_gmt":"2010-10-26T04:08:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/catinaanderson.com\/photography\/?page_id=428"},"modified":"2012-09-24T15:25:11","modified_gmt":"2012-09-24T15:25:11","slug":"preparing-your-home","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/catinaanderson.com\/photography\/northern_virginia_real_estate_photography\/preparing-your-home\/","title":{"rendered":"Preparing Your Home"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of the most important steps to creating the absolute best photos to market your home takes place before the photographer ever steps foot on-site.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some gentle reminders and helpful tips to ensure your home shows it&#8217;s best on the day of your session!<\/p>\n<p>OUTDOOR<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>contain pets out of sight<\/li>\n<li>remove all vehicles from driveways and do not park in front of the house<\/li>\n<li>move garbage cans so they cannot be seen from the street<\/li>\n<li>remove garden tools, hoses and sprinklers (the bright green of garden hoses can be an eye-draw in photographs distracting from the overall beauty of the home)<\/li>\n<li>mow and rake the yard<\/li>\n<li>sweep driveways and sidewalks<\/li>\n<li>remove piles of magazines and newspapers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>INDOOR<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Clear counters in kitchen and bathroom areas (what looks like decoration in person often looks like clutter in photographs)<\/li>\n<li>put indoor trash cans out of sight<\/li>\n<li>clean all photos and drawings from refrigerator<\/li>\n<li>remove small rugs, especially in kitchen area near sink, in some bathrooms<\/li>\n<li>make sure all light bulbs are working (replace any that are not)<\/li>\n<li>windex windows\/sliding doors, clean\/shine countertops, clean glass fronts of aquariums, TVs &#8211; any other reflective surface.<\/li>\n<li>remove personal photos sitting on tables or bed-side stands<\/li>\n<li>check the neatness of bed linens<\/li>\n<li>turn on all lights<\/li>\n<li>conceal any evidence of pets (such as pet cages or food bowls)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One of the most important steps to creating the absolute best photos to market your home takes place before the photographer ever steps foot on-site.
