Hooray, hooray, hooray!!
The first new butterfly to visit my yard this summer – “new” meaning one I had not previously had the opportunity to photograph.
A Mourning Cloak
It spent most of the afternoon interested in my outdoor shelves full of seed pods – particularly interested in the old seed pods that never germinated.
I was happy to take a break from potting seedlings and starting new trays of seeds to observe this beautiful butterfly who didn’t seem the least bit bothered by me and my camera. Here’s one last picture to share as it perched on the edge of my Jiffy trays that I started this week with swamp milkweed and butterfly weed destined for a future in my butterfly garden. This is why I do all this work in the garden. This is what it’s all about.
So beautiful!
