UPDATED 8/7/2020: I’ve since learned a bit more about bee identification and this is not a cuckoo wasp – it is a type of sweat bee – likely Augochloropsis – perhaps A.metallica.
These tiny iridescent wasps are barely seen but so beautiful up close. My best guess at identification is that this is some type of cuckoo wasp, perhaps… a family of parasitic wasps that lay their eggs in other creatures. Here it feeds on mountain mint.
