Ad Astra

Last year, on Mother’s Day Weekend, we went to the Race for the Cure and afterward spent the weekend in DC.  During that trip we went to the Air and Space Museum.  As we sat on the steps outside finishing some ice cream the kids ran around and around this interesting reflective sculpture.

I looked it up and was led to this Wikipedia page.  The sculpture is called Ad Astra – Latin for “to the stars,” according to the Wikipedia entry.  It’s creator is an artist named Richard Lippold who also has sculptures featured at other prominent locations including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC according to his Wikipedia Page.   Lippold lived from 1915 to 2002.
